It was written in stone

After a long break, we were back and ready to fill the sleepers with more soil, lay the stones and put the board around the pergola to level the flooring.

The weather was not on our side, as it rained constantly throughout the day, but we battled through the elements, and completed all tasks.

We started to clear the site of all the leaves and twigs which had accumulated over the winter months. The amount of rain and snow also made the floor very uneven, so we spent time raking the area to try and get it as flat as possible before the membrane was laid.

The weather got worse as the day went on, therefore we were not able to take any photos. However, we were able to accomplish our aim of putting the boards around the pergola, in order to level the ground.

We then started to move the stones from the front of the school into the area. We laid the stones inside the pergola but soon realised we wouldn't have enough to fill the whole of our area. This was something we would need to think about when we next come to the school.

When we came back to the school, we thought about what to do with the stones. After debating what we could do, we jumped into our car and headed to the local garden centre to see if they had bags stones they would like to donate. Luckily for us, we were given an extremely kind donation by the garden centre of 3 bags of bark, which we planned to use for the inside of the pergola.

When we got back to the school we moved all the stones from the inside the pergola to the outside area. We then proceeded to empty the bark bags and move the remaining stones from the front of the school.

The shed also needed a second coat so Harvey donated his time to do this, whilst Jack and Roberto sorted the membrane and the stones. Once this was all sorted, we got together and planned what our next actions will be.
